Our Allotment

The Allotment Group from Micklefield "Outreach" base themselves at The Environment Centre to work on their Bassetsbury Lane allotment every Tuesday.

The Group is now in its 4th year and has seen a few changes with staff and clients moving on but it is still very enthusiastic about the allotment.

A lot of time is spent at the allotment (weather permitting) as it needs digging and preparation early on, ready for the planting of a large variety of vegetables. There is now a well established soft fruit area including gooseberries, raspberries and black and red currants.

The vegetables include onions, beans and beetroot and everyone gets to take home the produce as it is picked. There are also plenty of flowers to be picked and taken home and they make the allotment very colourful.

Wet days are spent planning the allotment or going out to purchase seeds. There are days out as well, when the group visits garden centres, has a fun day at Kew Gardens or a river trip.

The group would welcome any help from seasoned gardeners who would like to come along on a Tuesday. Please contact us for further details.
