We currently offer schools a range of services and activities as follows: A base for field studies: The Environment Centre is an ideal base for field studies being situated in an area that is rich in history, close to a range of different habitats and within walking distance of High Wycombe town centre. Our large upstairs meeting room is available to hire, providing children with a base where they can eat their packed lunch, use our resources and do any follow-up work before returning to school. They can also view our working beehive and associated exhibits and our currrent exhibition. For further details, please go to facilities hire. Trails: We are developing a series of trail leaflets and accompanying education packs for use by schools. The first in the series is Change Over Time - Holywell Mead and Rye History Trail, an education pack designed for Key Stage 2 pupils. The pack includes a trail leaflet, a set of activity sheets and notes for teachers. Please contact us for further details. Bees in the Curriculum: The British Beekeeper's Association pack for schools "Bees in the Curriculum" is a comprehensive resource pack prepared for teachers to help them use bee-related topics within the framework of the National Curriculum. Initially made to tie in with Key Stages 1 & 2, the basic information and many of the worksheets are suitable for Key Stages 3 & 4. Copies cost £10 if collected from The Environment Centre. Activities with the Ranger Service: We have links with Wycombe District Council Ranger service which offers a variety of activities including pond dipping, bug hunts, orienteering, conservation tasks and other National Curriculum work. Please contact us for further details. Hire our exhibitions: Some of the materials from our previous exhibitions are available for hire. These include: 1. The Bird Exhibition - includes 24 RSPB singing local birds (cuddly toys), information, nests and RSPB pictures. 2. Chalk Stream screens from the Chilterns Conservation Board. 3.
