Honey Bees The Centre's indoor honey bee observation hive is exceedingly popular with visitors! The hive has an access tunnel through which the bees can go foraging in the world outside, bringing pollen and nectar back to the hive. Come and see the bees at work, handle beeswax and look at the equipment used by our beekeepers. Honey produced by our local beekeepers is on sale at The Centre - please ask at reception.
Bumble Bees A new bumblebee colony was installed at The Centre in May 2008. Come and view Bombus hypnorum, which as a species, is a recent arrival in the UK from France. Please click here for more information about last year's hive.
The hives and display area are provided and maintained by High Wycombe and District Beekeepers Association (HWBKA). For further information on HWBKA, please view their website. For details of meetings and events held at The Centre and organised by HWBKA, please see the What's On section of this website.
